Amazon Inventory Placement Program (IXD): Benefits and Eligibility

The Amazon Inventory Placement Program (IXD) is a service by Amazon that streamlines the movement of inventory across multiple Fulfilment Centres (FCs) in India. The Amazon IXD facility allows sellers to send their products to a central Receive Centre, which then redistributes the inventory to various Amazon IXD locations across the country. This program simplifies stock management, helping sellers optimize logistics and save on operational costs.

Benefits of the Amazon IXD Program

  • Single Shipment Creation: With the Amazon IXD program, sellers only need to create one shipment for the nearest Receive Centre. This eliminates the need to create multiple shipments for different fulfilment centres, saving on transportation costs.
  • Single Appointment Requirement: Instead of managing multiple appointments at various fulfilment centres, sellers can schedule a single appointment at the nearest Receive Centre, streamlining operations.
  • Reduced Freight and Operational Costs: The program charges a single shipping fee for customer orders fulfilled from different Amazon IXD warehouses, resulting in significant savings on shipping and operational expenses.

How to Enroll in the Amazon IXD Program

Sellers who wish to participate in the Amazon IXD program must be using Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) and comply with the program’s specific terms. Below are the basic requirements to get started:

Eligibility Requirements

  • Additional Place of Business (APOB) Registration: Sellers must register an APOB in the state where their nearest Amazon IXD facility is located, along with GST registration for that location.
  • GST Registration in Multiple States: Besides their home state and APOB location, sellers must have GST registration for at least two other states where Amazon IXD locations are present.

Example of Using the Amazon IXD Program

For instance, if you are a seller based in Haryana, you would send your inventory to the nearest Receive Centre (e.g., DED3). Amazon will then transport your products to various Amazon IXD locations depending on your APOB and GST registration in those areas. For example, if you are not registered in Karnataka at the BLR7 or BLR8 Amazon IXD warehouses, your products will not be sent there. To distribute inventory in Karnataka, you must register at a local fulfilment centre in that state.
